# List: Cover Image

Cover image lets you show an image for each record on a [List layout](/stacker-classic/layout-types/list-display-types.md), based on an image field. Cover images are available on these [Display types](/stacker-classic/layout-types/list-display-types.md):

* Cards
* Rows
* Table

## Enable Cover Image

1. Click **Edit Layout**
2. Click **Cover Image**
3. Select a field to use as an **Image Source**

## Cover image on Card Display layout

The cover image on the card Display layout shows the cover image above each card. In our properties app, we use the cover image to show an image of each property. This makes it easier to view each property from the List layout, without having to click into the Detail layout.

## Cover image on Rows and Table Display layouts

Cover images on **Rows and Table** display layouts show the cover image in a circle at the start of the first column. In our properties app we have used rows with a cover image to show a list of sales, where details are not required but our team can easily access the full list of sales.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.stackerhq.com/stacker-classic/layout-types/list-display-types/list-options/list-cover-image.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
